Calling all Newport News Summer Readers: It's Time to Suit Up for Summer Reading!
Summer is here and it's a time to read for fun, learn something new and see friends. Your Library has lots of free programs for everyone this summer! Visit our Calendar of Events for details and registration information. Download our summer reading brochure for a full listing of free programs and events.
This year’s NNPL Summer Reading Program has some SUPER new features!
This year, there are more prizes than ever! Beginning June 18, participants will fill out activity cards which, when completed, will be entered for weekly drawings. Those who complete the Summer Reading Program and turn in their final card will be entered into the grand prize drawing. This means a chance at big prizes for all finishers. And teens, this means that 12 of you will win a full day pass to Busch Gardens.
"'It's called the 'summer slide', and it describes what happens when young minds sit idle for three months. Children who do not read over the summer will lose up to three months of reading achievement." - RIF
